i ran until i reached the speed i knew i could become
ran right out of clothes
clean out of skin
straight past my thoughts
my name
my sense of sorry for all the stupid things i've done
history exploded like the barrier it's always been
JFK went one way, my mother the other
as if time was never truly a line of any kind
just a throw slow into the air of softly packed snow
too quick to hear anyone's response to anything I said
too fast for dead
sheared from any need to wait
universed around
so lonely bound
mothers warn their children
not to race against the light
